Happy 4th Birthday Movable Type!
Anil sent a message out a week ago or so asking people about the impact MT has had on our lives. Here's my story...
I started LMT primarily as a way to keep track of what I was learning while customizing and updating my recipe blog. I created Simply Recipes as a way to document my family's recipes while my parents were still alive and healthy and able to show me how to make all the wonderful things they made for us growing up. Last December I got a call from Mike Dunne, Food Editor of the Sacramento Bee, asking for an interview. Mike's article was published in January and my parents and I were featured on the front page of the food section that week. Complimentary publicity is always nice, but the biggest surprise of all came the next day when I got an email in my inbox from one of my best friends from college days who I had completely lost track of for almost 20 years. Over the last several years I would often think of my friend Suzanne, so saddened since I had no idea where to find her. From her email I learned that not only was she married now and with three kids, but she also lived only 5 miles away! Given that she's not even from here, that was pretty amazing. Since January Suzanne and I have gotten together at least once a week and I've completely fallen in love with her children.
So, thank you Six Apart, thank you Movable Type. Thank you for helping me find my long lost friend.
